PM leaves on his first tour abroad
New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will leave for Bangkok today to attend the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok where seven countries will be participating. The countries include Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal and Bhutan. This will be the Prime Ministers first foreign tour after assuming office. On the agenda are administrative matters, like the setting up of a permanent secretariat along with the likelihood of a Free Trade Agreement with Thailand on the lines of the one with Sri Lanka.

Exim Bank to launch new Lines of Credit to South Asia
Coimbatore: The Exim Bank of India is expected to launch new lines of credit (LC) this year to boost exports to South Asian countries and China. The quantum of the new LC will be in the order of $300 million. The LC will be made available for exports to China, Myanmar and Bangladesh. The Exim bank said its loan portfolio for the current year is expected to cross Rs.14,000 crore against Rs.10,775 crore last year.

Mumbai to host textile machinery fair
Coimbatore: The seventh India International Textile Machinery Exhibition, India-ITME 2004, showcasing the latest textile machinery, will kick-off in Mumbai this December.
Nearly 425 domestic companies and 300 foreign firms are expected to participate in the show, to be held at the Mumbai Exhibition Centre in Goregaon. According to a press release from the India International Textile Machinery Exhibition Society, the fair, scheduled between December 4 and 11, will have a floor area of 50,000 sq mt.
