Maoists
issue ultimatum to thirty five companies
Kathmandu: The labour wing of the Maoist rebels
has issued a deadline of Friday to 35 business establishments
across the country to shut down.
The
All Nepal Federation of Trade Unions (ANFTU) warned 35
businesses to either shut down or "face consequences",
media reports said. Some of the newly targeted business
ventures involve royal family members as well as American
and Indian investors.
President
of the ANFTU, Shalikram Jamarkattel, justified the threat
on the grounds of what he said was the "persistent
indifference towards the rebels' demands", the reports
said.
The
fresh threat from the rebels comes just a day before Prime
Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba leaves for a five-day visit
to India.
