Hyundai
launches GETZ in Kolkata
Kolkata: The Hyundai Motor India launched its new
model GETZ in Kolkata with the company declaring its intention
to achieve countrywide sales volume of about 8000 units
in 2004.
Launched
in two variants, GETZ would be positioned in the B+ segment
with a number of attractive features, according to the
company. The company also said that it expects a sales
volume of 25,000 units in the next one year for the new
model.
The
model would be priced (ex showroom, Kolkata) at Rs.4,57,231
for GL variant and Rs.4,82,635 for GLS variant.

Toyota
may launch the Innova next year
Bangalore: Toyota-Kirloskar expects to launch Innova,
a crossover passenger vehicle, in India early next year.
According to company sources the Innova, launched in Indonesia
early this month, will be modified to suit Indian conditions.
The Kijang Innova is part of the international multi-purpose
vehicle platform (IMV), for which Toyota-Kirloskar Auto
Parts is supplying transmission parts.
According to Toyota the company plans to invest around
Rs.600 crore for a new passenger vehicle project next
year, which will be funded through internal accruals.
The pricing is expected to be around the same as Ford
Fusion, which is all set for a launch in December this
year.
The Kijang Innova has been positioned as a lifestyle product.
The exterior design is far more stylish than the Qualis
while the cabin inside is more spacious and has a wooden
panel dashboard and a tilt leather steering wheel. The
vehicle has intermittent wiper with time adjuster, auto
air conditioner with integrated real blower, an advanced
stereo system, flexible seat arrangement and more storage
spaces.

NGC
plan $10 million R&D spend in India
Bangalore: US-based network and application performance
management solutions provider Network General Corporation
(NGC) has said it plans to invest $10 million to expand
its India research and development operations over the
next three years. Announcing the launch of their India
operations, the company said it would grow its headcount
by 30 per cent annually.
NGC plans to increase its headcount to 100 from 70 currently
at its Bangalore centre, the second largest outside US,
in three months times. The R&D team at Bangalore will
be responsible for product development, customer-facing
engineering and various cycles of quality assurance. US
private equity firms Silver Lake Partners and Texas Pacific
Group own NCG, formerly the Sniffer Technologies division
of anti-virus firm McAfee, which they acquired early this
year.

LG
launches Notebook PCs in Kochi
Kochi: Aiming to strengthen its product portfolio,
LG Electronics has announced the launch of four different
models of X-Note Notebook PCs in Kochi. The unique feature
of LG X-Notes is its longest battery life of 10.5 hours
backed with Wi-Fi internet access.
Riding on its strong first half performance, the company
is targeting a turnover of Rs.750 crore from its IT division.
The company also announced the launch of Pro PC range
of computers in the market priced in the range of Rs.19,000
to Rs.26,000. The other products offered by LGEIL are
the complete range of CRT Monitors, LCD TFT Monitors and
Optical Storage Drives.

TeleSynergy
and Descon to set up call centre at Kolkata
Kolkata: Telesynergy Research Inc of US, a provider
of IP-enabled office communication solutions, has decided
to set up a call centre in the city jointly with Descon
Ltd, an consultancy firm promoted by DPSC Ltd. An MoU
in this regard has been signed between the two companies.
The centre with an initial capacity of 100 seats would
be ready to start functioning within two months from Descon's
premises at Salt Lake. TeleSynergy proposes to invest
about $4.5 million in the venture, while Descon will invest
an equivalent amount.
The US company's initial investment would be $1 million
to create 100 seats.
TeleSynergy has already set up two call centres in India,
one in Kerala and the other in Gujarat, through the joint
venture route. This will be the third such centre to outsource
communication services from India for its overseas clients.

Louis
Vuitton opens shop at Mumbai's Taj
Mumbai: Louis Vuitton Malletier, the luxury brand,
has set up its second Indian store in Mumbai. The opening
of the Mumbai store has coincided with the 150th year
anniversary of Louis Vuitton.
The Mumbai store, located at the Taj Mahal Palace and
Towers hotel, houses a large range of the company's products
including bags, writing instruments, watches and ties.
The 170-square metre store in Mumbai has already begun
attracting customers.
Louis Vuitton evening bags are priced at above Rs.15,
000 and workbags at over Rs.45,000. Its writing instruments
cost Rs.13,000 and above, while watches cost over Rs.1.2
lakh.
