A.K. Sinha heads BSNL
New Delhi: Senior Indian Telecom Service officer A.K. Sinha has assumed charge as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.
He replaces V.P. Sinha, Director (Planning), who had assumed additional charge as the interim Chairman of the state-owned company.

Sinha is a 1967 batch ITS officer and was senior Deputy Director General at BSNL's corporate office, prior to his appointment, a BSNL release said.

Goutam Rakshit is new Chairman of ASCI
Mumbai: At its first meeting of the newly elected Board of Governors of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) for 2004-05, Goutam Rakshit, Managing Director, Advertising Avenues, was elected Chairman of the Board.

Rakshit has earlier been Chairman of several major industry associations. Ashoke Bijapurkar, Managing Director, F.S.A.S Ltd, was elected Vice-Chairman and Arun Adhikari, Managing Director (HPC), Hindustan Lever Ltd, has been appointed the Honorary Treasurer.

The other members are:
Advertisers: Ravi Kant (Tata Motors), Bharat Patel (P&G) and Bharat Puri (Cadbury); Media: C.R. Irani (The Statesman), Bharat Kapadia (Chitralekha), G. Krishnan (TV Today) and N. Murali (Kasturi & Sons).

Agencies: Sam Balsara (Madison), Madhukar Kamath (Mudra) and Ram Sehgal (Everest)

Allied Professions: Urmila Jain (Aaren), Dhananjay Keskar (ICFAI) and R.A. Poddar (Tobacco Institute).

During 2003-04, the Consumer Complaints Council of the ASCI upheld 67 per cent of the complaints received and over 80 per cent of ASCI's rulings were complied with by the ad industry.

Sadanandan is new V-P Marketing at Timex
New Delhi: Timex Watches has announced the appointment of Salil Sadanandan as Vice-President Marketing. He has joined Timex from Whirlpool of India Ltd, where he held various positions in trade marketing, sale and marketing of the cooking category, Timex said in a statement here.
