summit cancelled
Brussels: A summit between Indian and European
Union leaders scheduled for this month has been canceled,
the EU has said.
In
a short statement on behalf of the EU, the Dutch government
said "the Indian government gave pressing domestic
circumstances as the reason for calling off the summit."
The meeting was due to be attended by Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh.
No new date was set for the summit, which had been scheduled
for October 13-14 in the Dutch city of The Hague. The
Netherlands holds the EU's rotating presidency.
