Mumbai: The benchmark BSE Sensex ended the day
at 5713.75 points, with a drop of 44.92 points; the Nifty
shed 17.55 points and finished at 1794.90 points.

Mumbai: The certificate of registration of DGP
Securities Ltd has been suspended for a period of one
month, following their involvement in the market manipulation
of the scrip of Surya Roshni Ltd.
According to a SEBI press release, Rosy Blue Securities
was issued warning letter to desist themselves from matched
trades, following the investigation into this case.
SEBI has also debarred Harbinger Trading Company Private
Ltd and P.L. Choudhary and Company from accessing the
market for a period of six and three months respectively.

LIC
picks up 10 percent of TNPL
Chennai: Life Insurance Corporation of India has
acquired 69.63 lakh shares representing a 10 per cent
stake in Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL), according
to information provided by TNPL to stock exchanges.
LIC acquired the shares on September 28 through an off-market
deal. IDBI, one of the two original promoters of TNPL,
shed a 13.59 per cent stake in TNPL and now holds an 18.47
per cent stake in the company.
The State Government, the other promoter, continues to
hold a 35 per cent stake in TNPL.
