Oil prices cross $52 a barrel
New York: Oil prices touched a historic high of
US$ 52.5 per barrel with analysts worrying that the worst
was perhaps yet to come.
The
immediate triggers include Hurricane Ivan disrupting US
production around the Gulf of Mexico by close to 30 per
cent, and worries that demands of the US, the biggest
consumer may outstrip supplies as winter approaches.
Tensions
in Nigeria, a key producer, is also making things worse.
