TCS sets up media and entertainment lab in U.S.
Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched its Media and Entertainment Lab at Burbank in the United States to provide digital solutions for business and technology drivers for the entertainment industry.

The lab would focus on three major areas - digital media distribution, digital asset management and rights management, the TCS has said in statement. The announcement was made at Digital Hollywood, the premier entertainment and technology conference in the U.S.

Exide to set up smelter plant through JV
Haldia: Storage battery maker Exide Industries will set up a lead smelter plant through a joint venture with a foreign partner, entailing an investment of about Rs120 crore.

The plant would be located in central India for convenience of collecting battery scraps from the company's plants. While an initial investment of Rs60 crore would be required for a smelting capacity of 20,000 tonnes per annum, an outlay of Rs120 crore was estimated for a capacity of 40,000 to 60,000 tonnes per annum.

Meanwhile, the company has also decided to go for capacity expansion at its Haldia, Hosur and Bawal plants.

Strides goes for controlling stake in LatAm venture
Bangalore: Strides Arcolab Ltd has will assume a controlling stake in its Latin American joint venture through the issue of preferential shares to its Latin American partner, Elcemar Almeida & Associates in Strides.

The board of the Bangalore-based pharma export major approved the issue on Friday.

While Strides' stake in Elcemar goes up from 40 per cent to 74 per cent, the Latin American company in return receives 30 lakh equity shares at Rs200 per share - or 7-8 per cent stake in Strides.

The board also approved issue of up to 19.33 lakh convertible warrants to promoters and their associates at Rs190 per warrant, totally worth around Rs36.7 crore.

Sify ties-up with Anne McBride for investor relations
Chennai: Sify Ltd, the Chennai-based Internet, networking and ecommerce services, has appointed New York-based The Anne McBride Company to execute its strategic investor relations' programme.

The Anne McBride is a full service financial communications and strategic consulting company, and Satyam Computer Services Ltd is its major Indian client. Sify is listed on the Nasdaq.
