Alan Sheppard to head Dr Reddy's Europe generics business
Hyderabad: Dr Reddy's Laboratories has appointed Alan Sheppard as executive vice-president and head of Europe Generics, and managing director and head of Dr Reddy's UK.

Dr Reddy's said Sheppard would be responsible for the management of the company's generics business in Europe and would be based at the company's offices in UK.

Dr Reddy's chief executive officer, G V Prasad, said, "Alan Sheppard brings with him a wealth of experience, which includes commercial, general management, R&D, manufacturing and strategic planning across generics, ethical branded, OTC and vaccines. Dr Reddy's will leverage this experience in taking our business forward in Europe."

Sheppard joins Dr Reddy's from Pliva, a leading European pharmaceutical company, where he was vice-president for global corporate strategy. He had previously been vice-president, Western Europe, where he was responsible for establishing Pliva's business in the European Union. He also served as general manager of Rhone-Poulenc Rorer (now Aventis); European marketing director for Medeva and held various positions with Institute Merieux, Smith Kline and Upjohn.

Two Indian rank among top 50 businesswomen
Washington: Two Indians have been included in a list of the world's top 50 businesswomen announced by the Wall Street Journal's "Women to watch" survey. These include Indra Nooyi, president and CEO of Pepsico in India on the 16th position and deputy CEO of HSBC in India Naina Lal Kidwai at 34th position.

Nooyi has been nominated for being one of the lead negotiators of the $13.9-billion acquisition of Quaker Oats and its prized Gatorade brand.

Naina Lal Kidwai is at the 34th position for helping Indian companies raise billions at home and abroad.

50 women globally were selected by a team of Wall Street Journal reporters and editors from 550 nominations world-wide.
The list, which placed Carly Fiorina of Hewlett Packard on the top, also included seven other Asians. Xie Qihua, chairwoman of China's Shanghai Baosteel group was the top ranking Asian in the list.

StanChart India officials appointed to global positions
Mumbai: Standard Chartered Bank has promoted three of its key top management representatives in India to global positions. These include Vishu Ramachandran, regional head of consumer banking, as chief financial officer, group consumer banking.

Murali M Natarajan, who joined the bank in 2002 as general manager (mortgage and auto business for South East Asia), will succeed Ramachandran.

Shyam Srinivasan, general manager (unsecured business), has been moved to head the consumer banking division in Malaysia.
