Deepak Naik to take over as head of Eisai
Mumbai: Deepak Naik has been appointed as head of operations by Japanese pharma company Eisai Co for its wholly owned-subsidiary in India - Eisai Pharmaceuticals India.

Naik will take over as managing director of the company. Prior to this appointment, Naik had a short stint at Ranbaxy, where he was director, domestic operations. Before that, he was with Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company, Wockhardt as vice-president.

Late last month, Eisai Co announced that it had established a marketing subsidiary in India for about Rs10 crore.

Eisai Pharmaceuticals India will sell pharmaceuticals developed by Eisai including ARICEPT, an Alzheimer's disease treatment, and Aciphex/Pariet , a proton pump inhibitor to treat gastric disease ulcers, and other pharmaceuticals.

The $4.5-bn Eisai Co has a presence in more than 30 countries.

Hutch chief R Sawhney to move overseas
Mumbai: Hutchison-Essar's Delhi-based executive director, Rajiv Sawhney has been posted overseas. Hutch's vice-president (corporate marketing), Harit Nagpal, and the head of Gujarat circle, Sanjoy Mukherji, are in the race for the Delhi post.

Currently, the Hutchison management structure has Asim Ghosh, MD, followed by Sandip Das, ED (in charge of the west, east and southern markets) and Sawhney (northern markets) on the next rung.
