Tibrewal
barred by SEBI from market for two years
Kolkata: Manoj Kumar Tibrewal has been barred
from the Calcutta Stock Exchange for two years and joins
the long list of CSE members who have been hauled up
by SEBI for alleged manipulation in a DSQ group stock.
Tibrewal's
firm has been barred from dealing in securities for
two years.
The
regulator, in an order referring to SEBI (Prohibition
of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices Relating to
the Securities Market) Regulations, 1995, has focused
on the sharp spurt recorded by the scrip during January-March,
2000, although it was thinly traded. The average daily
volume was only about 500 shares. This led to the allegation
of price manipulation and creation of an artificial
market in the counter.
