NSK
Ltd. appoints Durga Bearings as its dealer
Chennai: Global bearings major, NSK Ltd of Japan,
by way of expanding operations in India, has begun to
appoint dealers in various parts of the country.
It has announced the appointment of Durga Bearings Pvt
Ltd as one of the dealers. Chennai-based Durga Bearings,
a Rs40-crore company, has been in the trade for over
two decades. According to the company, the dealership
would sell only those types of bearings that are currently
not manufactured in India.
NSK's bearings are imported into the country. In the
current year, Durga Bearings expects to achieve a turnover
of Rs55 crore.

Export
award for Phoenix Yule
Kolkata: Phoenix Yule Ltd, the country's largest
manufacturer of conveyor belts, has bagged the "Highest
Export Award" in the non-tyre segment from the
All-India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA).
The award was given in recognition of the company's
outstanding export performance of both steel cord and
textile conveyor belts during 2003-04.
According to a release issued here, export sales during
2003-04 stood at Rs42.2 crore, up from Rs26.5 crore
in 2002-03 and Rs8.1 crore in 2001-02. The company exports
conveyor belts to over 20 countries.
The release states that about 35 per cent of the company's
turnover last year was accounted for by exports. In
the months ahead, efforts would be made to penetrate
untapped markets globally, it said.

Lafarge
deploys PeopleSoft tools
Mumbai: Peoplesoft has announced that it has
successfully deployed PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne Supply
Chain Management, Financial Management and Asset Management
Solutions in seven months at Lafarge India.
PeopleSoft solutions will help Lafarge India synchronise
its inbound supply chain and streamline procurement
and inventory management across all company locations.
The solutions will also allow Lafarge India to conduct
online financial transactions, leading to improved data
integration and coordination between purchasing and
accounting.
The initiative is also expected to help Lafarge India
to meet with requirements under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
