Israel
and Palestine to jointly market tourism
Jerusalem: The Israeli and Palestinian tourism
ministers have announced that they will cooperate to
market tourism in the Holy Land. This comes as a part
of an effort to encourage Christian pilgrims to visit
the Holy Land during the Christmas season.
Israeli
Tourism Minister Gideon Ezra and his Palestinian counterpart
Mitri Abu Aita announced cooperative measures to assure
safe passage of pilgrims and tourists, especially between
Jerusalem and Bethlehem.
Christmas
is a peak travel season to the Holy Land and is of great
importance to both the Israeli and Palestinian economies.
The tourism officials said they hoped their cooperation
would contribute further to the recovery of the tourism
sector, as well as help the Middle East peace process
move along.
