Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas concludes, 11 NRIs honoured
Mumbai: The third Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas concluded in Mumbai with eleven NRIs being awarded by President A P J Abdul Kalam. The NRIs honoured include known faces like telecom guru Sam Pitroda, Britain's Lord Bhikhu Parekh and renowned writer Sunil Khilnani.

The awards were in recognition of their services for promoting a better understanding of India abroad.

Former Prime Minister of Trinidad Tobago Basdeo Panday, activist Amina Cachalia of South Africa and Professor Alokeranjan Dasgupta, a poet and philosopher were also conferred the award.

Ayodhya tangle: SC to hear petition against Advani
New Delhi: The Supreme Court will today hear petitions challenging the dropping of conspiracy charges against BJP President L K Advani and nine others in the Babri demolition case.

On September 2003, the Supreme Court had issued a notice to Advani and others on two petitions.

India-China trade set to cross $13 billion
Beijing: India-China bilateral trade has touched $12.16 billion during January-November 2004 period, up 82.7 per cent over the same period last year, according to the latest Chinese customs figures.

Indian exports to China surged to $6.93 billion, up 87.4 per cent during January-November 2004 period. At the same time, Chinese exports to India totaled $5.23 billion, up 76.6 per cent over the corresponding period last year.

India was the eighth largest trading partner of China in Asia. China has conducted total trade worth $597.12 billion during the January-November period. Japan continued to be the largest trading partner of China with total trade touching $151.50 billion, up 26.4 per cent.
