Markets: Sensex sheds another 86
Mumbai: The Sensex finally ended the session with a loss of 85.67 points at 6222.87, around 14 points off its low of 6208.82. On the National Stock Exchange, the 50 stock Nifty index, which swung in an intra-day range of around 42 points, closed with a loss of 29.95 points at 1952.05. The foreign institutional investor (FII) were net sellers to the tune of Rs32 crore on Monday.

PruICICI files offer documents for blended fund
Mumbai: Prudential ICICI Asset Management Company has filed the offer documents for a blended fund. The open- ended debt scheme has a primary objective of generating long-term capital appreciation by investing predominantly in debt and money market securities and a proportion in equity and equity related securities, says the document.

The AMC seeks to raise a minimum subscription amount of Rs 1 lakh during the initial offer period of the scheme.

The fund will also allow investors the flexibility to alter the allocation of their investments among the designated open-ended schemes offered by the fund to meet their changing investment needs or risk profiles by switching between various schemes, said the document.

The offer document is filed with the Securities and Exchange Board of India.

SEBI institutes award for research into securities market
Mumbai: The Securities and Exchange Board of India has instituted the SEBI Award for Excellence in Research in Securities Market to promote research in the area of securities market and allied areas through recognition and honour of outstanding researchers, it said.

Under the initiative, up to three awards will be conferred on three best researchers, individuals or institutions in securities markets every year. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a citation, said the release.

SEBI invites researchers to submit a brief and focused synopsis (about 2,000 words) of the research paper. The synopsis for this year may be sent to researchaward@sebi.gov.in and must reach by February 28.

A panel of two anonymous referees constituted by the Chairman of SEBI will assess and identify approximately 15 best synopses, said the release.
