Crude
prices come down on Asian trading
Singapore: Oil futures edged lower slightly in
Asian trading, a day after surging above $49 for the first
time since November.
Light
sweet crude for February delivery fell by 13 cents to
$ 48.25 a barrel in electronic trading mid-morning. In
trading early Tuesday, light sweet crude went as high
as $ 49.50 while heating oil topped $ 1.39.
Prices
have since fallen as dealers cash in on profits from early
highs and absorb reports of mild temperatures in the United
States in coming weeks.
Prices
had also been pushed higher after the International Energy
Agency revised its estimate for expected daily demand
for crude in 2005 upward by 100,000 barrels a day to 1.4
million barrels.
