Sri Lankan Airlines puts off expansion plans in India
New Delhi: Sri Lankan Airlines has put on hold its India expansion plans due to the December 26 tsunami, airline officials have said. Officials however were optimistic that the airline will bounce back, with several promotional schemes already in place to attract tourists.

At present, SriLankan Airlines flies 71 times a week to ten destinations in India. Chennai has 15 flights a week and Thiruvananthapuram has 11. New Delhi, Mumbai, Tiruchi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kozhikode and Kochi have daily flights, while the Buddhist pilgrimage destination Bodh Gaya has two flights a week.
