Premji reappointed as Wipro Chairman
Bangalore: The board of directors of Wipro Ltd, at a meeting on January 21, has re-appointed Azim H. Premji, Chairman and Managing Director, for a further period of two years and seven months from December 31, 2004 to July 30, 2007.

Premji's re-appointment is subject to the approval of the shareholders at the next AGM.

Icrisat's Wani on Unilever advisory board
Hyderabad: Global major Unilever has invited Dr S.P. Wani, Principal Scientist at the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (Icrisat), to join the Unilever Sustainable Agriculture Advisory Board.

Constituted in 2000, the board advises Unilever on sustainability issues in agriculture and development of market mechanisms for sustainable supply-chain practices. Its members are drawn from research institutes in the voluntary sector and academia.

IICT director J.S. Yadav gets award
Hyderabad: Dr J.S. Yadav, Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), has been selected for the Goyal Award for the year 2003 by the Kurukshetra University.

The award carries a prize of Rs1 lakh, a medal and citation. It would be presented to Dr Yadav during the second week of March at Kurukshetra, according to an IICT press release.

Vikas Gupta is new marketing chief at Coke
New Delhi: Coca-Cola India has announced the appointment of Vikas Gupta as Vice-President - Marketing for the India Division that covers Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and the Maldives. He will assume his new responsibilities at Coca-Cola India from March 1.

Vikas has worked in the marketing departments of several fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies including Brooke Bond and Procter & Gamble, India between 1984 and 1994. He joined the Coca-Cola India marketing team in 1994 and held various portfolios, including brand and regional marketing assignments, Coke said in a statement here. He moved to join the Coca-Cola Company's marketing team at Atlanta in 1999 until his return to India last year.

Vikas is an alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur where he specialised in Marketing and Finance.
