Markets: Sensex sheds another 50 points
Mumbai: With operators selling off by way of reducing their outstanding positions in the Futures and Options segment the markets continued their downward march on Monday. The BSE 30 share Sensex closed at 6,534.68, losing 49.54 points, while at the NSE, Nifty, the 50-scrip index, slipped 12 points at 2043.20 points.

Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors have stepped up activity, reporting hefty net investments of Rs2,054.60 crore in the first four sessions of the last week.

UTV IPO is oversubscribed 3.4 times
Mumbai: The initial public offering of UTV Software Communications Ltd was oversubscribed by 3.4 times on the day of its issue, with most of the bids coming in at Rs130 per share, which is the upper end of the price band.

A total of 2.38 crore share bids were made today against the issue size of 69.99 lakh shares. The price band was in the range of Rs115-130.

FIIs bid were for 1.44 crore shares accounting for 60.66 per cent of the issue size. Financial institutions bid were for 48.46 lakh shares and MFs 38.98 crore shares. The issue closes on February 25.

Of the total offer, there would be 50 per cent allocation for institutional investors, up to 25 per cent to high networth individuals and up to 25 per cent to retail investors, which would constitute 34.11 per cent of the fully diluted post issue paid-up capital of the company.

REI picks up Rs13.65 crore shares in Madhucon Projects
New Delhi: Reliance Energy Investments Pvt Ltd has picked up shares worth Rs13.65 crore in Madhucon Projects Ltd, a road and infrastructure construction company.

Madhucon Projects informed the BSE that its Board of Directors at a meeting held today approved allotment of 3,50,000 shares of Rs10 each at an issue price of Rs390 per share, which includes a premium of Rs380, to Reliance Energy Investments.

The shares have been allotted on preferential allotment basis with a one-year lock-in period, it added.

Merrill Lynch picks up shares in Subex Systems
Bangalore: Subex Systems has allotted 2,30,769 equity shares of Rs10 each at a price of Rs300 each to Merrill Lynch Capital Markets Espana S.A.SV by virtue of conversion of foreign currently convertible bonds (FCCB) of nominal value $1.5 million held by them.

The company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the board has accepted the resignation of P. J. Alex from the post of Executive Director of the Company with effect from February 3.
