Shetty is new IDBI chairman
Mumbai: The Government has cleared the appointment
of V.P. Shetty as the new Chairman of IDBI. The new chief
is expected to have a term of around three years.
Prior to his latest appointment, Shetty was the CMD of
Canara Bank. He will take over at IDBI from J.N. Godbole,
whole-time Director. Godbole was assigned the responsibility
of heading the bank in the interim when its erstwhile
Chairman, M. Damodaran, was appointed head of the SEBI.
Shetty, who has been the CMD of United Commercial Bank,
began his career in Canara Bank and later joined Vijaya
Bank in 1973. He worked in several capacities in the bank
before becoming General Manager. He later moved to UCO
Bank as Executive Director and later assumed the responsibility
of CMD of UCO Bank in October 2000. He took over as CMD
of Canara Bank in November 2004.

Khandelwal to head Bank of Baroda
Mumbai: The Government has cleared the appointment
of Dr Anil K. Khandelwal as the Chairman and Managing
Director of Bank of Baroda. The new chief is expected
to have a term of around three years. Prior to his latest
appointment, Dr Khandelwal was CMD of Dena Bank for a
year.
He had earlier served for three decades in Bank of Baroda
in various capacities before rising up to the rank of
Executive Director. Dr Khandelwal is a graduate in chemical
engineering. He is also an MBA and holds a Ph.D in Management.
He is also on the board of New India Assurance Company
and the Agriculture Finance Corporation.
He is also Chairman of the Board of Governors, Academy
of HRD.

Behuria
takes over as Chairman, IOC
New Delhi: Sarthak Behuria has assumed office as
Chairman, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC). He takes over
from M. S. Ramachandran, who superannuated on Monday,
an IOC release said here.
Behuria was earlier the Chairman and Managing Director
of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. Behuria will also
be the part-time Chairman of the IndianOil Group Companies,
namely, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd, IBP, Bongaigaon
Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, besides Indian Oiltanking
Ltd, a joint venture company.
Behuria will continue to be the Chairman of the Petroleum
Federation of India.

Krishan
Dhawan is new MD of Oracle India
New Delhi: Oracle India Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Oracle Corporation, has announced the appointment
of Krishan Dhawan as its new Managing Director, with immediate
effect.
"Mr Dhawan brings with him more than 25 years of
experience in the financial services and IT enabled services
sector, having worked with Bank of America for 23 years
across Asia Pacific and American markets," Keith
Budge, senior Vice-President, Oracle Asia Pacific said
in a statement here.
Dhawan succeeds Shekhar Dasgupta who would leave Oracle
India after the end of May 2005 to pursue a career in
academia after having worked with the company for more
than twelve years.
During this period, Dasgupta would remain with Oracle
India as an advisor to the company.

Amar
Sinha takes over as marketing head at GTC
Bangalore: Amar Sinha has joined Golden Tobacco
Company (GTC), owners of Panama brand, as Director in-charge
of sales and marketing.
Sinha quit as CEO of BDA Ltd, makers of Officers' Choice
whisky, last week. GTC is part of the Dalmia Group, which
also owns companies such as Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd
(GHCL).
Sinha is entering GTC at a time when the Rs450-crore tobacco
company is slated to unveil fresh expansion plans to garner
a respectable pie in the premium end of the domestic filter
cigarette market dominated by ITC.
