Hyundai to launch Tuscon and new model of Sonata
New Delhi:
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has said that it will be launching two new models, including the mini-sports utility vehicle, Tuscon.

The company had last year added to its portfolio in the hatchback segment by adding the 'Getz' model, at a price higher than the flagship 'Santro' model. It is likely to face competition from Suzuki's 'Swift', which is due to hit the Indian roads soon, possibly sporting a price tag less than the Rs4.5 lakh entry tag for the 'Getz'.

The company is due to launch an all-new model of the luxury sedan 'Sonata', possibly in July. Currently, the base version of the model sports a price tag of Rs11.3 lakh while the top-end 'Sonata 2.7 V6' comes for Rs15.2 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi).

Exclusive Jaquar facility for Hansgrohe products
Hyderabad: The Jaquar & Company Ltd, the Rs260-crore player in the domestic bath fittings and accessories market, has finalised a capital expenditure programme of Rs40 crore to set up a modern manufacturing unit for the exclusive production of the products of the German bath fittings major Hansgrohe.

These products include multiple flow showers, shower panels, shower temples, whirlpools and bath fittings.

The company had earlier entered into a marketing alliance with Hansgrohe to introduce bath fittings in new finishes, designs, styles and colour combinations.

Jaquar had also tied up with the Swiss major Aquis to roll out its renowned sensor taps and other sensor controlled bath products in the Indian market.

Apart from revamping its existing facilities around New Delhi, Jaquar has also decided to set up a modern plant to produce bath fittings exclusively to the South-East Asian countries. The new facility, coming up on a 25,000-sq. m. area near New Delhi, would take off by November. This would enable the company increase its production capacity to around 30,000 units per day from the existing 16,000 pieces, he said.

Delhi cess on diesel vehicles: Tata writes to CM
New Delhi: After Tata Motors chairman Ratan Tata's missive to Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, regarding the proposed cess on diesel vehicles, the Delhi Government may do a rethink. Tata's communication has been made on behalf of the auto industry.

In his letter, Tata suggested measures to reduce pollution from thermal power plants in the city. Tata's letter questioned the Government's emphasis on reducing vehicular pollution while neglecting thermal plants, which he said, were more polluting. The letter followed Tata's meeting with Dikshit, where he said the cess would discourage people from buying vehicles. Tata has written that the Environment Protection Committee (EPC) is not the only institution that Dikshit should depend on and suggested creation of a forum to give the industry more say.

His letter has sparked some controversy with EPC dignitaries trying to run down his proposals, as being "industry sponsored".
