Portman replaces Zoellick as US Trade Representative
Washington:
The US President George W. Bush has selected Ohio Republican Congressman Rob Portman as his top trade negotiator to succeed Robert Zoellick, who has moved over to the State department as a Deputy Secretary of State.

Bush said that he was asking Portman to pursue a broad agenda that included getting Congressional nod for a Free Trade Agreement with six Latin American countries and the successful completion of global trade talks.

Portman has a challenging assignment ahead with the country's trade deficits at an all-time high of about $617 billion last year and some three million manufacturing jobs having been lost since mid-2000.

Hyundai India MD Sung shifted to INI Steel
New Delhi:
The Hyundai Motor India Managing Director, Byung Ho Sung, has been promoted as President of the INI Steel Company, one of Hyundai-Kia Motor Group companies in South Korea.

Sung moves to Korea to take charge of the Incheon-based company, which is South Korea's second-largest steel manufacturer. Sung's appointment comes in the wake of Hyundai Motor Group's efforts to focus on and consolidate its steel division, the company said. Last year, INI Steel and its affiliate Hyundai Hysco Co. acquired the bankrupt Hanbo Iron & Steel Company.

The India operations will now be headed by S.S. Yang, currently the head of Hyundai Motor's sales division in China. Before China, Yang held senior positions at Hyundai operations in Turkey and Poland.
