Reddy gets healthcare leadership award
Hyderabad: Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of Apollo
Hospitals Group, has been awarded the Asia-Pacific BioBusiness
Leadership Award 2005, instituted by the Marshall School
of Business of the University of Southern California.
Dr Reddy won the award for his efforts to "revolutionise
modern healthcare delivery in South Asia", an Apollo
Hospitals press release said here on Tuesday.
"Dr Reddy is bringing world-class healthcare and
the benefits of advanced technologies within the economic
and geographic reach of millions of patients for the first
time," the release said quoting Carl Feldbaum, Chairman
of the selection committee for the award.
The awards were sponsored by the Global BioBusiness Initiative,
a programme of the USC Marshall Center for Global Business
Excellence (C-Globe).
The award would be presented to Dr Reddy at the USC Asia-Pacific
Business Outlook 2005 on April 7, the release said.

K Duggal is new Home Secretary
New Delhi: V K Duggal, presently Secretary, Water
Resources Ministry, will be the new Union Home Secretary
in place of Dhirendra Singh who retires later today, it
was officially announced here last night.
Duggal, an Indian Administrative Service Officer of the
1968 batch, who is also Secretary, Drinking Water Supply,
successfully led the Indian side at the India-Pakistan
talks on the contentious Baglihar issue.
