Indian
companies sweep Golden Peacock awards
London: Indian companies have won five of the seven
Golden Peacock Awards instituted by World Council for
Corporate Governance for their outstanding performance.
Announcing the awards, Robert Hiscox, Director, Communications,
of World Council for Corporate Governance said the seven
companies were chosen from out of 225 companies nominated.
Pritish Nandy Communications PTV, the first publicly traded
motion picture company in India, received the award in
the category of emerging economy in the private sector,
while Oil and Natural Gas Company (ONGC), was selected
for the award for its stellar role in the public sector
in India. The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)
also received the award in the emerging economy in public
sector.
Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) and LIC were chosen for the
Golden Peacock awards in the category of corporate social
responsibility.
Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden and Chairman
of the World Council for Corporate Governance and Madhav
Mehra, President of World Council for Corporate Governance
jointly presented the awards to the winners here last
night.

Health
card from Air India for Mumbai-Doha passengers
Dubai: Air India passengers flying from the Qatari
capital of Doha to Mumbai can get a free family health
card from the Apollo Clinic under a scheme to promote
the airline's third weekly service to India's financial
capital starting from June 7.
The free Family Health Edge card is available to any adult
passenger buying a return ticket in Doha and travelling
on AI876 on Tuesdays to Mumbai or beyond between June
7 and July 26.
The health card has to be obtained before September 30
by submitting the ticket and boarding pass to the clinic.
The health card with one-year validity, which otherwise
costs QR 200, entitles the holder and family members up
to five free consultations in addition to discounts on
all laboratory tests, diagnostic procedures and health
checks.

Experts in tie up with Reliance Insurance
New Delhi: Car glass repair and replacement company
Windshield Experts has said that it has tied up with Reliance
Insurance to manage all automotive claims for their policyholders.
As per the tie-up, any Reliance policyholder can get his
automotive glass repaired or replaced in a cashless transaction,
the company said in a statement here.
Windshield Experts, which started operations in June 2000,
has 26 branches across Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata,
apart from cities such as Bangalore, Indore, Pune, Surat
and Ahmedabad.

Results: JSPL
JSPL FY05 net jumps 69 per cent

Delhi:
Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has reported a 69
per cent rise in net profit at Rs515.70 crore in 2004-05
compared to Rs305.46 crore in previous fiscal. The company
has also declared a dividend of 200 per cent for its shareholders.
Net
sales increased 78.6 per cent to Rs2,253.60 crore for
the year ended March 31, 2005, up from Rs1261.62 crore
in 2003-04, the company said in a release.
The
Board of Directors of the Company has recommended a final
dividend of 200 per cent or Rs10 per equity share of Rs5
each on 3.07 crore equity shares. This is in addition
to the 100 per cent dividend declared by the company in
October 2004.
For
the fourth quarter, the company posted a 26 per cent jump
in net profit to Rs146.70 crore as against Rs116.73 crore
in the year ago quarter. Net sales in the January-March
quarter increased 45 per cent to Rs628.62 crore from Rs
433.33 crore in the corresponding period previous fiscal.
