New
oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea begins operations
Baku: Oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean has begun flowing
after the opening of a new pipeline that bypasses the old pipelines laid and
controlled by Russia.
Part of the $4 billion pipeline passes through
Georgia, which has been rocked by years of instability. The pipeline
will pump over one million barrels per day of Azeri crude to the Turkish Mediterranean
port of Ceyhan.
