Five banks get new chiefs
New Delhi:
The Government has announced the appointments of new chiefs for the Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), Andhra Bank, Canara Bank, Indian Bank and Bank of India.

T.S. Narayanasami, CMD of Andhra Bank, has been moved to IOB as its new Chief Executive. IOB's S.C. Gupta was recently appointed CMD of Punjab National Bank. Narayanasami will hold office till May 31, 2009.

K. Ramakrishnan will assume responsibilities at the Andhra Bank in Narayansami's place. Ramakrishnan, who was Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, will be the CMD of Andhra Bank till July 31, 2008.

M.B.N. Rao, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank, has been appointed as the new chief of Canara Bank. Rao will hold office till June 30, 2008. The top slot at Canara Bank fell vacant after V.P. Shetty moved as CMD of IDBI Bank Ltd.

K.C. Chakrabarty, earlier the Executive Director of Punjab National Bank, will take over as the CMD of Indian Bank. The notification appointing Chakrabarty says he will remain in office for five year or till further orders.

K. Balachandran, Executive Director, Bank of India, has been elevated as the CMD of the bank. He will hold office till April 30, 2007.

GE chief gets USIBC award
Chennai:
The United States India Business Council (USIBC) has bestowed on General Electric the USIBC 30th anniversary jubilee award for "The U.S. company contributing most to Indo-U.S. commercial relationship".

Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chairman and CEO, GE, received the award from Rajat Gupta, Senior Partner - Worldwide, McKinsey & Co., and Chairman of USIBC. Scott R. Bayman, President and CEO, GE India, was also present on the occasion.

Freescale Semiconductor appointment
New Delhi:
Freescale Semiconductor has announced the appointment of Sanjeev Keskar as Country Sales Manager for India.

Keskar will be responsible for driving Freescale's business in the Indian market through targeted and strategic outreach to key customers in the automotive and network and wireless sectors, a company release said here.

Ian Kerr takes over as Sun Tec COO
Thiruvananthapuram:
SunTec Business Solutions has announced the appointment of Dr Ian Kerr as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Dr Kerr has worked in various technical areas in the telecom domain, including next generation architecture, voice-over packet, multimedia services and fixed-mobile communication, according to a company release. He has worked in senior management positions in functional areas such as technology strategy, engineering and sales support.

Prior to joining SunTec, Dr Kerr, who has a Ph.D. from Edinburgh University, was with Nortel Europe. He has also worked with Bell Northern Research and Logica Plc, the release added.
