Rupee
steady - gilts decline
Mumbai: The rupee closed at 43.5450/55, almost
unchanged from Monday's level of 43.55.
Forwards
market: The 6-month premia closed at 0.91 per cent
(0.77) and the 12-month premia at 0.88 per cent (0.79).
G-Secs:
Bond prices opened weak by 20-25 paise and closed 30 paise
lower. The 7.37 per cent 9-year 2014 paper closed
at Rs102.10 (6.92 per cent YTM), against Monday's level
of Rs102.69 (6.95 per cent YTM). The 7.38-10 year-2015
benchmark paper ended at Rs102.38 (7.04 per cent
YTM), down from Monday's level of Rs102.60 (7.01 per cent
YTM). The 10.25-16-year 2021 paper, which is currently
most active, closed at Rs124.91 per cent (7.52 per cent
YTM), against the earlier level of Rs125.23 (7.49 per
cent YTM).
Call
rates: The inter bank rates opened at 4.95 per cent
and closed at 4.75-5 per cent.
Reverse
repo auction: The RBI received and accepted 51 bids
amounting to Rs38,540 crore.
CBLO
market: 263 trades for Rs12,137.7 crore, in the rate
range of 4.75-4.85 per cent, were realised.

Magma
Leasing gross profits up 62 per cent
Hyderabad: Magma Leasing Ltd has announced that
its net disbursals for the first quarter, ended June 2005,
were at Rs346 crore (Rs280.54 crore), marking a growth
of 23 per cent.
In
a press release here on Tuesday, the company said its
gross profit surged 62 per cent at Rs 13.63 crore. However,
its profit after tax improved marginally at Rs 8.43 crore.
The
company attributed this to increased staff cost as well
as increase in interests and depreciation cost compared
to the corresponding period last year.

HDFC
and MasterCard launch Titanium Card
Mumbai: HDFC Bank and MasterCard International
have launched a new credit card on Tuesday called the
Titanium Card, targeted at individuals with an income
of over Rs7 lakh per annum.
The credit limit would be Rs1.5 lakh to start with, bank
officials said.
The
annual fee is Rs3,000 and Rs2,500 for HDFC Bank clients.
Officials
said that the card is for a niche segment and expect their
Gold Card clients to migrate to the Titanium Card.
