Administrative Staff College chief S.K. Rao on UN panel
Hyderabad: Dr Siripurapu Kesava Rao, Director-General, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad, has been nominated as a member of the prestigious United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (UN-CEPA).

The 24-member CEPA, whose four-year term begins on January 1, 2006 would be responsible for supporting the work of the UN's Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), according to a press release from ASCI today.

The committee will focus on the promotion and development of public administration and governance among member states of the UN. As a subsidiary body of ECOSOC, CEPA would review critical issues in public administration and governance and advise the former on new trends and strategies to cope with these issues.

Besides Dr Rao, the six other members of CEPA are from Kenya, South Africa, Republic of Korea, China, Germany and the Ambassador, Canadian Permanent Mission to the OECD, the release said.

D.C. Gupta is new MRTPC member
New Delhi: D.C. Gupta, former Finance Secretary, was sworn in as member in the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission ((MRTPC) on Friday.

He was administered the oath of office by the Chairman of MRTPC, Justice B.K. Rathi.
