Pawan
Kumar heads Quality Forum
Bangalore:
The National Association of Software and Services Company
(Nasscom) has announced that its recently launched Quality
Forum will be led by Pawan Kumar, Chairman of vMoksha
Technologies and co-chaired by Lakshmi Narayan, President
and CEO, Cognizant Technologies.
The
Quality Forum has been instituted to promote quality consciousness
among the IT firms in the country. The Forum expects to
enhance the international competitiveness of the Indian
IT industry even while seeking to promote the India quality
story by undertaking research reports and preparing handbook
on best practices, among others.
It
is also expected to collaborate with institutions such
as SEI (Software Engineering Institute) and IFPUG (International
Function Point Users Group) to organise some of their
examinations in India.
The
Forum also expects to reach out to the small and medium
enterprises by organising workshops on quality and cluster
programmes.
It
also expects to work closely with academia for defining
skill sets and training needed for professionals working
in the quality departments of companies.

Goyal takes over as GM, Corporate
R&D, BHEL
Hyderabad:
S.K. Goyal will take charge as General Manager of BHEL's
Corporate R&D Division with effect from Thursday.
This follows the retirement of S. Balagurunathan, Executive
Director, on superannuation.
Goyal,
an IIT-Kanpur alumni, joined Corporate R&D in 1977
and worked in the areas of vibration/noise analysis and
failure analysis among others. He has solved several problems
associated with chronic failure and vibration at power
plants, sites and shop floors, and was instrumental in
developing new methodology for fault diagnosis and predictive
maintenance of power plant equipment.
Prior
to joining BHEL, Goyal worked with Indian Space Research
Organisation (ISRO), Thiruvananthapuram, from 1973 to
1977 in the areas of vibration analysis and rocket launch
vehicle testing.
