NMDC chief Ramesh Kumar gets Visvesvaraya award
Hyderabad: B. Ramesh Kumar, chairman-cum-managing director, National Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (NMDC), was presented the Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Award instituted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Institution of Engineers (India), Andhra Pradesh State Chapter.

The award was given on the occasion of the 38th Engineers Day Celebrations in commemoration of the 145th birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya at the Institution of Engineers (India), on Thursday.

After he took over as CMD in May 2004, the company has not only recorded the highest ever performance since inception, but also registered the highest ever quantum jumps in the areas of production, sales of iron ore and profit in the year 2004-05.

The profit before tax in 2004-05 was Rs1,224 crore against Rs616 crore in 2003-04, an increase of nearly 100 per cent, according to an NMDC press release.

Earlier, during his tenure as Director (Technical) he was instrumental for opening a new mine - Bailadila 10/11A, Chhattisgarh, installation of an UPFO plant in Visakhapatnam, DMS Plant and the introduction of the New Product Development Division in the R&D Centre, Hyderabad.

K.S. Sarma re-elected President, IBF
New Delhi: K.S. Sarma, Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati, has been re-elected President of the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) for the fourth consecutive year.

He was elected unanimously at the AGM of the IBF, which was held in Mumbai. Jawahar Goel of Zee Network was elected vice-president and Venkat of Eenadu TV was elected as the IBF treasurer.
