Italy keen to participate in infrastructure development
New Delhi: A high-level delegation led by the Italian minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Pietro Lunardi, met the Union minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Ghulam Nabi Azad and evinced a keen interest in sharing Italian know-how in waste disposal, urban transport, construction activities and water supply.

Azad expressed satisfaction over the progress made in bilateral relations in trade, culture, science and technology and emphasised the need to work together in other untapped areas. He added that the rapid economic growth in India had opened up innumerable investment opportunities for Italian businessmen.

The visiting minister informed the Indian side about the similarities between the two countries in terms of urban growth-related problems. He also suggested that the technical experts from the two countries should meet in the next few days and work out the areas of cooperation for more investments by Italian businessmen in India.

Other members of the delegation included the Italian Ambassador to India, Antonio Armellini, the President of the Infrastructure Commission Confederation, Marco Montagna, and representatives of Italian construction companies.
