Kishore Chhabria to acquire HRB distillery plant
Bangalore: Kishore Chhabria is acquiring HRB Group's distillery and bottling plant near Bangalore for an undisclosed amount.

The deal gives Chhabria access to the third wholly-owned distillery in the country, and the first in the south. Chhabria's three group companies — Tracstar Investments, Tracstar Distilleries and BDA Ltd — were involved in the transaction with HRB's Gemini Distilleries to effect a buyout of plant and machinery, real estate, and perpetual lease of excise licence, paving way for the takeover of the Bangalore plant.

The unit is expected to be operational in the next few months and could go on stream with a monthly bottling capacity of 50,000 cases, said sources. The plant also has the necessary approval for secondary distillation, enabling conversion of rectified spirit into extra neutral alcohol.
