Ratan
Tata, Mukesh Ambani, Nilekani and Premji in Fortune's
Asia's 25 most powerful
New Delhi: Four Indians, including Ratan Tata and
Mukesh Ambani are among Asia's 25 most powerful business
leaders listed by the latest issue of 'Fortune' magazine.
Ratan
Tata, the chairman of the Tata Group, is ranked 12th and
Mukesh Ambani of the Reliance Industries comes 17th on
the list headed by Samsung Electronics CEO Jong-Yong Yun.
The other Indians featuring in 'Asia 25' are Infosys CEO
Nandan Nilekani (rank 13) and Wipro chairman Azim Premji
(rank 19).
Ratan
Tata was not on the list last year while Nilekani has
moved up to 13 from 23 and Mukesh Ambani has dropped to
17 from 13 and Premji from 10 to 19.
'Fortune'
says at 67, Ratan Tata "shows no signs of slowing
down." "In the past year, he has been busy buying
companies in Korea, Singapore, and Africa."
Nilekani
is described as "one of the architects of India's
IT revolution" who earned himself a starring role
this year in American journalist Thomas Friedman's bestselling
book 'The World is Flat' as the man who first suggested
that the world is being flattened by new technologies.
The
list also has Saudi Aramco's Harvard-educated boss Abdallah
Jum'ah, Toyota's Katsuaki Watanable, LG Electronics CEO
Kim Ssang Su and Sony CEO Howard Stringer.

Biocon's
Kiran Mazumdar gets Corporate Leadership award
Bangalore: Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, CMD of Biocon
Ltd, has been honoured with the Corporate Leadership Award
2005 of the American India Foundation (AIF).
She
was recognised for the leadership role in promoting initiatives
to support environment, education, health and welfare-related
issues in India, a release said.

Tata
Steel, TCS team win Maple Leaf International
award
Beijing: Prashant Kumar of Tata Steel's Procurement
Division and Shiva Prakash Rao of TCS have been declared
winners of the "Maple Leaf International Award 2005"
for their paper titled "Best Practices in Global
Supply Management- What are the benchmarks?".
While
this is a hat trick for India, for the first time the
award has been won by a team twice in two consecutive
years. The International Federation of Purchasing and
Supply Management (IFPSM) announced this award in Beijing,
China recently.
The
Maple Leaf Award is a prestigious international award
organized through an annual competition amongst authors
who have written actual and future oriented papers concerning
the purchasing and supply management profession and its
development.
The
team from Tata Steel has made its way to the worldwide
finals by clearing regional and national competition.
The
Tata Steel team has won this against stiff competition
from teams from several countries like UK, Hong Kong,
China, India and others. In all, 30 countries across the
world participated in the competition.
Representing
43 purchasing and materials management associations and
over 1,50,000 purchasing professionals around the globe,
the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply
Management (IFPSM) is a pioneering organization promoting
purchasing excellence.
