Aziz Premji: In the job for the next five years
New Delhi:
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Wipro chief Aziz Premji said that all critical positions in the company had a `succession plan', but pointed out that he would be at the helm of affairs for the next five years.

"We have a strict system where all critical positions have a succession plan," Premji said when asked about his succession strategy. He said Wipro did not distinguish between professional and family succession, and added that succession would be based purely on merit.

"We have a leadership succession (plan) today but I am certainly in the job for the next five years...I have enough candidates in the company to be able to take on the mantle (thereafter)," he said.

Premji said his shareholding in the company currently stands at 81 per cent, and the dilution had come through the employee stock option plan and his donations to Azim Premji Foundation.

"At an appropriate stage, we have an open mind for sponsored ADR to improve the liquidity," he said but declined to divulge a timeframe.
