Sensex hits new high on Monday morning
Mumbai: The stock markets demonstrated a sharp spike in the opening session on Monday with strong gains in blue chips such as Reliance, Satyam, Hindalco and Wipro.

Reliance gained 1 per cent at Rs857.60, Wipro was up 1.30 per cent at Rs447, Satyam gained 1.40 per cent at Rs731.75 and Hindalco was up 3 per cent at Rs145.

Ranbaxy declined 6.90 per cent, to Rs364 after it lost the Lipitor case in the U.S. court and ICICI Bank lost 2.10 per cent at Rs574.50 as new shares began trading.

At 12.00 p.m, the Sensex was quoted at 9,367.51, showing a net gain of 83.05 points over the previous close of 9,284.46.
