K. Poddar is new president of FICCI
New Delhi: The chairman of Gillette India, Saroj
K. Poddar, has taken over as president of the Federation
of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
In
a statement, the chamber said that Poddar took over on
Sunday at the conclusion of FICCI's 78th annual session.
The
chairman of Wockhardt, Habil Khorakiwala, has been elected
senior vice-president and the vice-chairman and MD, India
Cements Ltd, N. Srinivasan, as the Vice-President.

FICCI
award for missile scientist
Hyderabad: DR V.K. Saraswat, distinguished missile
scientist, Defence Research and Development Organisation
(DRDO), has been awarded the Individual Scientist/Technologist
Award for 2004-2005 for innovation in space sciences by
the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(FICCI).
Dr
Saraswat, who is the chief controller, R&D, for the
Missile Complex and programme director (Air Defence (AD)),
DRDO, has been responsible for the induction of India's
first surface-to-surface missile `Prithvi' and its variants
in the armed forces.
As
programme director of Air Defence and director, RCI, Hyderabad,
he initiated number of technology development projects,
in which many private industries are participating. He
has also taken initiatives to realise missile systems/sub-systems
from different public and private industries, from the
conceptual design to the production stage.
