India CMD R K Dutta gets 'Lifetime achievement award'
Guwahati:
Chairman and managing director of Oil India Limited (OIL)
R K Dutta has been given the "Lifetime Achievement
Award" for his contribution to the hydrocarbon industry
and the company itself.
In
Dutta's absence, his wife Julie Dutta received the award
from Dr R A Chidambaram, principal scientific advisor
to the government of India. The OIL CMD is currently in
China as a member of a high level Indian delegation.
Other
awardees include the late Dhirubhai Ambani, Ratan Tata
and Aditya Birla.
Dutta's
four decades long experience in the petroleum industry
has seen him contributing in both the upstream and downstream
petroleum business. Taking over as CMD in May 2002, Dutta
has taken a number of initiatives to steer OIL India towards
the path of growth. Since he took charge, crude oil sales
and gas sales went up by 22 per cent and 30 per cent respectively
and there was significant increase in both drilling and
seismic work.
OIL
India has also formulated its strategic and corporate
plan under his leadership to meet the challenges in the
deregulated scenario. The company has acquired a participating
interest in overseas ventures in four countries in the
last two to three years, including winning of two blocks
in Libya in consortium with the Indian Oil Corporation.
