Warren
Buffet to step down from Coca-Cola board
New York: Stock market guru Warren Buffet 75, has
resigned from the board of Coca Cola Corp citing time
constraints. He has been on the board of the company for
the past 17 years. He said he did not plan to seek re-election
to the board.
Buffet's
departure got a positive reaction from Wall Street. Analysts
said it was a plus for the company.
An
active Coke board member Buffet was influential in the
company backing out of plans to acquire Quaker Oats and
Gatorade sports drink in 2000. PepsiCo eventually acquired
the two products and Quaker Oats has been a key driver
to its revenue and earnings growth.
