ADB president on three day India visit from Mar. 9
Hyderabad:
Ahead of the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) 39th annual meeting being held in Hyderabad India, ADB's president Haruhiko Kuroda will be visiting India this week to review preparations.

The four-day annual meeting of the ADB's board of governors will be held from May 3 at the new Hyderabad International Convention Centre. The event is expected to attract 2,000-3,000 government leaders, representatives of civil society groups and the private sector and journalists from across the world.

During his three-day official visit from March 9, Kuroda will visit the convention centre and meet senior officials — both in Hyderabad and New Delhi. Kuroda will also speak at the Administrative Staff College of India In Hyderabad, and will host a press conference and speak at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry meeting in New Delhi.

Among the issues expected to figure prominently at this year's annual meeting are ADB's medium-term strategy, global imbalances affecting Asia, India and South Asia's role in a region that is rapidly integrating and the country's massive infrastructure needs.

Established in 1966, ADB has 64 members and last year approved loans and grants for projects totaling $6.95 billion, and technical assistance amounting to $198.8 million. India, a founder- member of the bank, is the bank's fourth biggest shareholder after Japan, the United States, and the People's Republic of China.
