Putin
comes to China for talks
Beijing: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived
in China on Tuesday for talks with President Hu Jintao.
The talks are expected to focus on energy, defence, terrorism
and other international issues and the two sides plan
to sign several bilateral agreements after formal talks
between Putin and Hu are concluded.
Chinese
officials are hopeful that the agreements would include
a feasibility study for building a branch to China of
Russia's planned trans-Siberian oil pipeline.
Bilateral
trade between the two countries was valued at about 30
billion dollars last year, and the two countries aim to
increase it between $60 billion and $80 billion dollars
by 2010.
