Dhingra
likely to take over as DGS
Mumbai: Kiran Dhingra, well known for her dynamism
is likely to take over from G S Sahni as director general
of shipping. GS Sahni, having completed his three-year
tenure, is moving to Delhi as secretary co-ordination.
Sahni and Dhingra have yet to receive their orders.
Sahni brought about a transformation in the administration
of the industry, and made it more accountable and customer
savvy.
Belonging to the 1975 IAS cadre, Dhingra would be the
first lady to head this highest executive office, entering
an almost all-male dominated bastion.
According to sources NK Raghupati, the present chairman
of Tuticorin Port Trust and the Sethusamudram project
was said to be the first choice for the post amongst two
others. Having declined the offer, Dhingra's selection
