Dunlop
to start industrial rubber products line at Ambattur
Kolkata:
The Ruia group-controlled management at Dunlop India
is planning to set up a industrial rubber products plant
at its existing truck and bus tyre manufacturing facility
at Ambattur in Chennai.
According
to preliminary estimates, the new industrial product division
at Ambattur would cost Rs20-25 crore. The new production
line would take at least six months to install.
"We
have identified substantial demand for industrial products,
which includes a range of industrial belts. Accordingly,
Dunlop is planning to set up an industrial products division
at Ambattur," said P.K. Ruia, group Chairman.

Falcon
Tyres to spend Rs.70-80-cr on ramping up capacity
Kolkata: Falcon Tyres has embarked upon a Rs70-80-cr
phase of expansion to ramp up capacities to 7.5 lakh pieces
of two- and three-wheeler tyres and tubes a month. The
expansion programme will be implemented latest by December
2006.
After
coming under the control of the Ruia Group three months
ago, the company has enhanced the production of tyre and
tubes by 30 per cent to 5.5 lakh pieces and 3.5 lakh pieces
respectively by implementing a capacity de-bottlenecking
scheme at a cost of Rs12 crore. The company was earlier
producing 2.75 lakh pieces of tubes and 4.35 lakh pieces
of tyres.
Falcon
Tyres, whose profitability had declined steadily in the
last three years, has recorded a net profit of Rs2.2 crore
during the first three quarters this fiscal.

H&R
Johnson plans Rs.40-cr expansion
New
Delhi: Tile company H&R Johnson (India) Ltd, is
making an investment of Rs40 crore at its Rajkot facility
to increase the installed capacity from the present 5,000
sq.m. per day to 12,000 sq.m. per day. The capacity expansion
programme is expected to be completed by middle of the
year.
Following
the expansion, the Rajkot facility is expected to contribute
a turnover of over Rs200 crore per annum, according to
the company. The company recorded sales revenue of Rs740
crore for the financial year 2005-2006, up 36 per cent
over the previous year's figures.
