Vijayan appointed LIC chairman
Mumbai: T.S. Vijayan, managing director, Life
Insurance Corporation, has been appointed chairman of
the corporation, effective May 3. Vijayan at 53 is the
youngest ever chairman of LIC. Vijayan began his career
in 1977 with LIC as a direct recruit officer. He was the
first director and chief executive of LICHFL CareHomes,
a subsidiary of LICHFL. In this role, he was instrumental
in designing the systems for running community living
centres for senior citizens.
Before
he became MD, Vijayan was in the post of executive director
(Information Technology and Business Process Re-engineering).
It was during his tenure that projects involving enterprise
portal and data warehousing were conceived and implemented

Sanjeev
Sharma resigns from Nokia
New Delhi: Sanjeev Sharma has stepped down as the
managing director of Nokia India after he was asked to
move to Singapore as regional head of marketing. Sharma
says he prefers remain in India. Nokia's Singapore office
has issued a press release announcing the appointment
of Mr D. Shivakumar as Nokia India V-P and country GM.
Sharma
said he was evaluating his next move, and it would be
at least two to three months before he makes a decision.
