Kurien
to quit from IRMA
Ahmedabad: Dr Varghese Kurien having announced
his decision to quit as life-time chairman of the Institute
of Rural Management-Anand (IRMA), its board meeting will
appoint a successor after the Indian Milkman's three decades
at the helm of the body. Dr Kurien is likely to be succeeded
by his protégé-turned-bete noire, Dr Amrita
Patel, chairperson of the National Dairy Development Board
(NDDB).
Besides
Dr Patel, two other high-profile names doing the rounds
are those of Hasmukh Shah, chairman of the board of the
Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design and Dr Bakul
Dholakia, director, Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad.
Shah and Dr Dholakia were among the five IRMA board members
reinstated as co-opted members by the Gujarat High Court.

Kingfisher
top brass reshuffle
Bangalore: UB chairman Vijay Mallya and managing
of Kingfisher Airlines is reorganizing the top management
structure of the airline following the exit of two expat
COOs. The airline will now have three executive vice presidents
reporting to Mallya, and the post of COO will be done
away with.
The
airline will soon announce the post of three EVPs - A
Raghunathan, Rajesh Verma and Hitesh Patel - who will
head the key functions directly under Mallya.
Raghunathan,
a UB loyalist, will head finance, while Patel will be
in-charge of aircraft maintenance and engineering. Mallya
is also expected to name Verma, who joins from Jet Airways,
as the head of airport operations and in-flight services,
a role that he performed in his previous assignment as
well.
Mr
Mallya's decision not to go in for a new COO assumes significance
as it comes in the wake of sudden departures by former
JetBlue honcho, Alex Wilcox, and Airbus Industrie top
official, Nigel Harwood, who left recently.

Vivek
Rampal quits from Unilever
Mumbai: Vivek Rampal, category head, skin care
of the regional innovation group, Unilever has quit following
differences of opinion with the management. Rampal was
part of a team headed by Ralph Kugler, president, HPC,
Unilever and reported to Simon Clist, head (marketing),
HPC, Asia.
Informed
sources said that there was a serious disagreement with
the Unilever management over advertising strategies and
people management. HLL officials refused to comment on
the issue.
Vivek
Rampal, earlier Hindustan Lever's category head for skin
care moved to Singapore in '05. An A-lister in the Unilever
set-up, he was responsible for strategy and brand innovations
in the category for the Asian region.
He
is believed to be joining another company based in Singapore,
it is reliably learnt.
Rampal
has been credited with much of the success recorded by
HLL's skincare division in the past few years. Within
HPC India, the innovation marketing and technical resources
has been aligned to the regional innovation structure.
HLL's success in skincare brands like Fair & Lovely,
Lakme, Ponds, Dove and Vaseline put the category in Unilever's
focus.

Infotech appoints A. Prabhakaran
as COO, South Asia
Mumbai: 3i Infotech Ltd has announced the appointment
of Anirudh Prabhakaran as chief operating officer (COO)
for South Asia.
Prabhakaran
will be reporting into Hari Padmanabhan, deputy managing
director, of the company.
Commenting
on the appointment Padmanabhan said that Anirudh has vast
experience in the IT industry and that his experience
spans across a variety of areas such as application software,
IT infrastructure and system integration.
