Infosys
to ring Nasdaq opening bell on July 31 from Mysore
Bangalore: In a unique event, the NASDAQ stock
market will be opened for trading from India. As part
of its 25th anniversary celebrations, Infosys Technologies
plans to recreate Opening Bell, a ceremonial event representing
the beginning of the trading day at NASDAQ on July 31
at its Mysore campus.
Infosys
will be the first Indian company to ring the Opening Bell
from a remote location.
Infosys
and NASDAQ are set to duplicate the market-site experience
this month-end. With the use of a highly secure, IP-network,
the NASDAQ will be remotely opened, bringing together
millions of investors and market participants to celebrate
the opening of the trading day.
A
replica of the NASDAQ electronic sign-in screen will also
be set up, following the tradition of CEOs and dignitaries
signing the NASDAQ podium. The company's senior management
team along with Bob Greifeld, president and CEO, The NASDAQ
Stock Market, will be present on the occasion.
The
Opening Bell ceremony will be broadcast live at the NASDAQ
MarketSite and on its seven-storey tower from NASDAQ's
premier broadcast studio in Times Square, New York.

Spentex
to issue shares to Citigroup Ventures
New Delhi: The board of directors of textile firm
Spentex Industries has approved the conversion of 17.5
lakh warrants held by Citigroup Venture Capital into equity
shares at a price of Rs36.54 each, the company said in
a release.
The
warrants were allotted to Citigroup Venture Capital on
December 8, 2005, with an option to convert into equity
shares before the expiry of 18 months from its date of
allotment at a price of Rs36.54 a warrant, it said.
The
company had received 10 per cent consideration at the
time of allotment, it said. With this conversion, the
equity capital of Spentex Industries would go up from
Rs57.45 crore to Rs59.20 crore.
Spentex
Industries is one of the largest yarn manufacturers in
the country with a total capacity of 3.50 lakh spindles
for natural and man-made yarns. It recently took over
Indo Rama Textiles Ltd and Amit Spinning Industries Ltd.
