Cisco's
India head Rangu Salgame resigns
Bangalore: Rangu Salgame, Cisco Systems' chief
for India and SAARC operations, has resigned. No reasons
have been given for his exit. Cisco said that David Caspari,
vice-president of service provider operations in the Asia-Pacific,
would become the acting President of Cisco India. The
company is said to be searching for a permanent replacement
for Salgame. Caspari would continue to report to Owen
Chan, Cisco's president for Asia-Pacific operations.
Cisco
has registered significant growth under Salgame's leadership
and has been growing at over 40 per cent year-on-year
in India, one of the fastest growing markets for the networking
major. It is estimated that the company's revenues stood
well over Rs 3,000 crore in 2005. In October 2005, the
company announced it would invest over $1.1 billion in
India over a three-year period in recognition of the country's
rapid development, both as a market and a centre of research
and development.
