Arcil gets new CO
Mumbai: S. Khasnobis has been appointed as the managing director and CEO of Asset Reconstruction Company (India) (Arcil). He has an experience of about 25 years in banking particularly in project finance, structured finance and stressed asset resolution. Before deputation to Arcil, he was heading the Special Assets Management Group of ICICI Bank.

AMD's Mukund moves to US
Bangalore: Mukund Ramaratnam, who was leading the marketing team for AMD India, will be moving to the AMD Inc headquarters in Sunnyvale, California to take on responsibilities in AMD's worldwide consumer sales & marketing team.

His new role involves consumer sales & marketing for India, China and South Asia regions.

Mukund's responsibilities in marketing will be taken over by Mr Deepanshu Sharma, currently the general manager, marketing at AMD India.

Tharoor a close runner-up at the UNSC straw poll
New Delhi: Shashi Tharoor the aspirant for the post of UN secretary general has come in second in an informal straw poll held by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). South Korean foreign minister Ban Ki Moon received the highest support, while Tharoor was came in second, behind by two votes.

ASEAN nominee Thai deputy prime minister, Surakiart Sathirathai and Sri Lanka's candidate Jayantha Dhanapala came in third and fourth spot respectively.

The vote comes as something of a boost for South Block strategy since India has been batting on two fronts, the UNSG post and a permanent seat for India in the Security Council.

Change of guard at IL&FS
Mumbai: With E*Trade Financial Corporation of the US acquiring a controlling stake in Indian securities and commodities broking firm, IL&FS Investsmart Ltd there has been a change of guard at IL$FS.

Hemang Raja, managing director & CEO, has indicated his desire to step down citing "health reasons."

Sachin Joshi, chief financial officer, who has been made executive director finance and operations, said a representative of E*Trade was likely to replace Raja as MD & CEO. Sandeep Presswala, chief operating officer-retail business, and Girish Nadkarni, chief operating officer (wholesale business), have been appointed as executive director-retail business and executive director-institutional business, respectively.
