Pfizer
gets a lawyer as CEO
New York: Jeffrey Kindler, a lawyer by career has
been appointed as the chief executive officer of the world's
largest pharma company Pfizer.
Pfizer
Inc in a surprise announcement ended Hank McKinnell's
tenure as CEO more than a year before schedule.
The
51-year-old Kindler joined Pfizer in 2002 and is an unknown
quantity to Wall Street.
Before
joining Pfizer, Kindler was chairman and chief executive
officer of Boston Market Corp., owned by McDonald's Corp.,
and president of Partner Brands, also owned by McDonald's.
He
had previously held top corporate legal jobs, serving
as general counsel of McDonald's for about five years,
and earlier worked as vice president and senior counsel
for litigation and legal policy for General Electric Co.
Kindler
was hired initially by Pfizer as senior vice president
and general counsel, but his role expanded to include
oversight over corporate affairs, government relations
and philanthropy.
Last
year Kindler and two other senior executives were named
vice chairman at Pfizer.
Kindler
is best known for being the company's top lawyer when
the company won a major court case protecting U.S. patents
on the Lipitor cholesterol treatment last December securing
the Pfizer's hold on Lipitor, the world's biggest-selling
drug.
Kindler
graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in 1977
and obtained his law degree in 1980 from Harvard Law School.
He also served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review
and was a classmate of the current U.S. Supreme Court
Justice John Roberts.

Jnaneswar Sen as senior general manager, marketing. Sen
moved to HSCI after a 15-year stint at Maruti Udyog, where

from Roorkee University Kumar has experience in erection,
operation and maintenance of 220-KV sub-station, gas turbine
stations and coil-based power stations.
