Japan's
industrial production up 1.9 pc
Tokyo: Japan's industrial production rose a 1.9
percent in June after dipping in May, government data
showed on Monday. The figure compared with a median market
forecast for a 1.3 percent increase and followed a 1.3
percent decline in May. Economists were optimistic about
the prospects for production given forecasts for rises
in the coming months. Manufacturers' output -- the core
component of production -- is expected to rise 2.2 percent
in July and increase a further 3.7 percent in August,
data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
showed.
Economists
said exports bound for Asia, especially ASEAN nations
were picking, which means good tidings for the future.
For April-June, industrial production rose 0.8 percent
from the previous quarter, the third consecutive rise.
