IMF chief economist, Raghuram Rajan, resigns
Washington: Raghuram Rajan, the chief economist
of the International Monetary Fund would be stepping down
early next year to return to the University of Chicago
where he worked as a professor.
Rajan,
the economic counselor and director of the research department
of IMF, has been at the current post since July 2003 and
was offered a second term by the organisation but the
university has declined to extend his leave.
Rajan
said he would stay on at the IMF through the end of the
year to complete or substantially complete work that is
in progress, including preparing a report on how to better
integrate Financial Sector Analysis into the Fund's Article
IV work.
Praising
his "important contributions" to the IMF, its
managing director Rodrigo de Rato said "Raghu's open
management style and collegial spirit worked to create
an attractive work environment for his staff.

Manoranjan
Mohapatra appointed president, Flextronics
Gurgaon: Global end-to-end communication solutions
provider, Flextronics Software Systems (FSS), has appointed
Manoranjan Mohapatra as its president and chief operating
officer to replace Arun Kumar who passed away in July
this year. Before this Mohapatra was the executive vice
president and chief operating officer of FSS. Mohapatra
has been with FSS for over 14 years and has been a core
member of the FSS leadership team since the company's
inception and has played a pivotal role in driving FSS'
business growth, a company release said.

Sify
portal gets new president
Chennai: Sify, the Chennai-based Internet and enterprise
services company, has promoted V. Sivaramakrishnan as
president of portal business. Before this, he was vice-president
of Sify's iWay cyber cafe chain business.
Sivaramakrishnan
was earlier associated with companies like Procter &
Gamble and Ford India, said a company press release.
